Northgate bags £8.5m council contract

VAR wins Wokingham Borough Council deal

VAR Northgate Public Services has clinched a five-year IT management contract with Wokingham Borough Council worth £8.5m.

The council has commissioned Northgate to overhaul its IT infrastructure to help it reduce costs and make it easier for local residents to access services.

Graham Ebers, general manager of business services at Workingham Borough Council, said the decision to appoint Northgate was based on past experience.

He said: "Our partnership with Northgate will be pivotal in enabling our residents to get wider access to improved services by maximising our use of new technologies.

"Northgate has worked with us for many years. I am confident we can make this a successful partnership for the benefit of our community."

Ian Blackhurst, managing director of Northgate, said: "These are challenging times for local authorities and public services in general. Now more than ever, we need to focus on delivering better services for less.

"How organisations manage their people, processes and costs to provide this is an essential part of any forward-looking strategy."
