Viglen scoops double PC supply prize

PC builder and VAR scoops three-year supply contracts worth £3m each

Viglen has secured two IT contracts totalling £6m with the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Gloucestershire Health Community.

The PC builder and VAR has been commissioned by UEA to supply up to 1,000 desktops and notebooks on an annual basis to the university.

The three-year contract comes into effect at the start of next year and is due to cease at the end of 2013.

Viglen was awarded the contract, worth £3m, via the National Desktop and Notebook Agreement procurement framework.

The university cited Viglen's low-cost product line and service expertise as key factors in its decision to award the deal to the firm.

The contract marks the second time in recent months the two organisations have worked together, as Viglen was awarded a £750,000 contract in July to provide the university with a high-performance computing facility.

Bordan Tkachuk, chief executive of Viglen, said he was pleased to be joining forces with UEA again.

He said: "We are excited to be involved with such a prestigious institution and look forward to the continuation of our flourishing relationship."

In addition to the UEA deal, Viglen has also clinched a second three-year contract worth £3m with the Gloucestershire Health Community.

This deal, awarded via the Buying Solutions Commoditised IT Hardware and Software framework agreement, will see Viglen provide three NHS trusts with 2,000 desktop and notebook PCs.
