Varlink cheers rise in sales
£8m annual sales haul for York-based distributor
Mobile computing and data capture distributor Varlink is hiring new staff after posting another double-digit hike in annual sales.
The York-based distributor is expecting to report sales of above £8m for its financial year to 31 August, compared with £7.02m in 2009 and £5.45m in 2008.
It also revealed that first-quarter 2011 sales came in 22 per cent ahead of last year, topping £2m, adding that its reseller customers had won a number of meaty projects set to be delivered in the next two months.
Chief executive Mike Pullon said: “Psion is doing very well for us and we are encouraged by early sales of Getac and Unitech PDAs which are relatively new for us.”
Pullon claimed sales from the electronic point of sale (EPoS) arm Varlink launched last June had also taken off, with Posiflex terminals and Orient printers among the bright spots.
“We are recruiting addition sales, technical and internal support people to ensure we continue to provide our customers with the required levels of service,” he said.
