Silver Peak aims high in EMEA
Regional newcomer looks to upset the WAN optmisation apple cart
WAN optimisation player Silver Peak is hoping to woo storage integrators and partners of "over-distributed" rivals as it prepares an assault on the European market.
The vendor says its technology offers a more complete solution than that of the market incumbents.
"We focus on the datacentre," said marketing vice president Jeff Aaron. "We have a unique approach in that our goal is to fix the network, not the application."
A London office is to be opened early next year to complement the vendor's new EMEA hub in Munich. CDG UK has also been signed up as a distribution partner. EMEA vice president Mike Betz (pictured) said he wants to recruit 25 to 35 UK and Ireland resellers by summer 2011.
"We can help augment the product and service portfolio of EMC, Hitachi and NetApp partners who have expertise in the datacentre but limited expertise in networking," he added.
Aaron claimed partners switching to Silver Peak could cash in on big deals and an uncrowded market.
"Riverbed and Blue Coat are moving business to managed service providers and a lot of partners are not happy," he said.
