OtterBox swims upstream with Ingram partnership
Distributor fulfils pledge to build comms partnerships with accessories vendor signing
Ingram Micro has made good on its pledge to bag more contracts with comms manufacturers after signing mobile accessories player OtterBox.
The Colorado-based vendor, which manufactures cases and other protective gear for mobile devices, opened an EMEA base earlier this year in Cork. The Ingram deal, which applies across Europe, marks the first broadline distribution partnership the vendor has signed.
OtterBox EMEA managing director, Matt Clark, said: "We have been working hard to grow the OtterBox brand in the region. This distribution agreement with Ingram Micro EMEA further cements our position here in EMEA and will allow us to grow in new markets across a variety of regions and industries."
Ingram set up an EMEA comms division earlier this year. The distributor bagged a BlackBerry distribution contract earlier this week and pledged it would be followed by a quick succession of accessories and software partnerships.
Pierre-Yvon Mechali, EMEA general manager of Ingram's Telco Division, said: "We are very pleased to be the first major broad-based distributor anywhere in the world to carry OtterBox within our product line. Their unique solutions meet the mobile telecommunications needs of various groups who require rugged and reliable protection for their device.
"OtterBox has developed innovative offerings covering multiple well-known brands in the market and we are confident our customers will respond well to this enhancement from Ingram Micro."
