Computerlinks' cloud services break cover
Distributor launches channel-only cloud services
Computerlinks has launched a new web site to support the rollout of its cloud services, which are aimed at VARs wanting a low-cost entry to this part of the industry.
The distributor's cloud offerings are being marketed to the channel under the name of Alvea Services via a web portal that went live late last week.
The services available include online backup, managed firewalls, infrastructure provision and secure application management, and are based on the technology offered by Computerlinks' vendor portfolio.
Mike Worby, business development manager at Computerlinks, has been enlisted to head up Alvea.
He said: "The aim of Alvea is to enable partners to develop a cloud services portfolio that allows them to make money from cloud without having to worry about the high costs associated with entering the market."
Worby said the firm plans to extend its services provision in the New Year. "We are launching three more services in January, and all of them will be accessible via a single web portal to make it as easy as possible for our partners," he explained.
David Ellis (pictured), director of new technology and services at Computerlinks, said the launch of Alvea enabled the firm to "steal a march" on its rivals.
He said: "We've spoken to analysts about the approach we are taking with cloud and they've all given us their approval.
"Compared to what some of our competition are doing, what we are bringing to market is extremely credible," he added.
