Viglen gains new apprentice
Stella English set to work as project manager at St Albans-based system builder and VAR
Viglen has taken on Apprentice winner Stella English to keep her beady eye on its margins.
English was hired by Alan Sugar in a tightly-fought final last night on BBC1, beating fellow finalist Chris Bates to the crown.
The latest recruit will work as a project manager at the system builder and VAR, after impressing Lord Sugar with her consistent performance over the 12-week competition.
Speaking on BBC breakfast TV this morning, English said her role will be to ensure good margins are made from the solutions sold through Viglen.
"I will be helping Viglen to run projects and make sure they [sic] make some good margin from the IT solutions."
She stressed that she would not be selling: "Viglen has some very good people who bring in the business. I will be making sure the projects are implemented well in a timely manner."
English fought off stiff competition over the weeks from fellow competitors including Stuart ‘The Brand’ Baggs, completing tasks such as creating three new brands of sausage, selling British crisps to German consumers and creating a London tour company for a day.
Bordan Tkachuk, chief exectuive of Viglen, told CRN: "I am very pleased that Stella has won. She will be working for me at Viglen in a project manager role. She will be a major part of the team at Viglen and I am looking forward to her positive contribution. I believe she was the right choice and a worthy winner."
Tkachuk also said he "wished [runner up] Chris Bates well in his future endeavours."
