Dell continues vendor acquisition spree
Hardware giant acquires cloud security specialist SecureWorks
Dell has hit the acquisition trail for the third time in two months by signing a definitive merger agreement with cloud security specialist SecureWorks.
The hardware giant claims the deal will add weight to its information security and IT-as-a-service portfolio. The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
The acquisition follows Dell's acquisitions of storage vendor Compellent and data archiving specialist Insite One last month.
US-based SecureWorks recently appointed former Oracle boss Eddie Chance to lead its UK channel business. Its worldwide operations generated revenues of more than $120m (£77m) during 2010.
Peter Altabef, president of Dell Services, said he was looking forward to joining forces with the firm.
"Its offerings and expertise will immediately enhance our solutions portfolio," he said. "We look forward to welcoming SecureWorks team members to Dell and our client."
Michael Cote, chief executive of SecureWorks, added: "Dell's global scale and relationships with clients provides a tremendous opportunity to rapidly expand [the] business."
