VAR overhauls North West Ambulance Service's software asset management strategy

VAR Trustmarque Solutions has completed the deployment of a hosted software asset management (SAM) system for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

The Snow hosted managed service system allows NWAS to keep track of the software licences in use across its entire network, which covers Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and Greater Manchester.

NWAS said the system, which is designed to keep tabs on the licensing state of four of the service's software vendors, will be extended in the future to include many more.

Kate Cushion, IT security manager at NWAS, said: "The service is now aware of the licensing position of four vendors, and we are working towards that same knowledge for all vendors that are in use within NWAS."

David Marriott-Lodge, services and solutions director at Trustmarque, said SAM can generate considerable savings for public sector organisations.

"There are many organisations who are paying large sums of money for licences they do not need," he added.
