Antill takes top role at AppSense

User virtualisation vendor names former Vistorm boss as chief executive

User virtualisation vendor AppSense has handed the reins of the company to former Vistorm boss Darron Antill.

The firm specialises in products that make user-specific data available on demand when they log onto a desktop or mobile computing device.

Antill joined the firm 10 months ago as chief operating officer, but has been handed the top role after AppSense founder Charles Sharland stepped down.

In his new position, Antill has been tasked with growing the vendor's US business, as well as overseeing the continued success of its EMEA-wide operations.

"The company started in the UK, and we now have in place a mature channel. In the US, we started at a lower position and will be investing a lot of time in building our profile, business and channel," said Antill.

The firm signed its first US-based distribution agreement with Ingram Micro last October and is in the throes of recruiting partners.

However, in the UK, Antill said the priority is channel enablement to ensure its existing partners are primed to take advantage of the growing demand for user virtualisation.

"An increasing number of mobile devices are being used in the workplace and enterprises are not fighting it. Instead, they are looking for ways to manage these devices in a cost-effective and secure way," he added.
