Vendors announce definitive merger agreement

Storage vendor NetApp is to acquire datacentre management software specialist Akorri Networks in an all-cash transaction.

The value of the buy-out has not been disclosed but NetApp expects to close the deal by the end of April.

Akorri's products aim to allow end users to pinpoint performance bottlenecks and automate tasks within shared and virtualised IT infrastructures. NetApp said the acquisition will allow it to include this functionality into virtual environments created using its technology.

"With these enhanced capabilities, customers can accelerate their transition to a shared IT infrastructure, so they can use IT to capitalise on new growth opportunities and spend fewer resources managing their environments," explained Manish Goel, executive vice president of product operations at NetApp.

Rich Corley, vice president of engineering at Akorri, added: "The combination of our two companies will provide our customers with the most comprehensive tools to plan for change and growth in their business."
