Motorola Solutions pledges channel commitment
Split from mobile phone business will not divert focus from channel, claims UK head
Motorola Solutions has stressed it is business as usual for its channel after finalising its divorce from Motorola’s mobile phone business.
Motorola split into Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobility on 4 January after concluding that there was minimal overlap between the two sides of the business.
Enterprise-focused Motorola Solutions does about 90 per cent of its business through about 25,000 partners globally, with a particular strength in the transport and logistics, retail and manufacturing verticals. In the UK, it works through distributors Avnet, Ingram Micro and ScanSource.
Richard Hudson, head of EMEA enterprise channel at Motorola Solutions, told ChannelWeb: “We will continue doing exactly what we have been doing and drive the channel and remain channel-focused.”
Partners will migrate to a new partner programme, PartnerEmpower, later this year and Hudson said the firm would help resellers build out their propositions by hooking in more ISVs.
“A software company may have software to enable parcel delivery,” he said. “The reseller would put the software and hardware together and then maybe provide a services wrap.”
Specialising in technology such as mobile computing, wireless LAN and data capture, Hudson said Motorola Solutions is able to meet the entire mobility needs of enterprises.
"Some 35 per cent of the global workforce will be mobile by 2013 and Motorola Solutions is well positioned to meet those requirements," he said.
