VAR clinches email deployment deal with cruise holiday retailer

Security VAR Ancoris has successfully migrated 250 staff at holiday retailer Gill's Cruise Centre onto Google's messaging and collaboration platform.

The Cardiff-based company enlisted Ancoris to replace its incumbent email system with the Google Apps for Business.

The new system provides staff with the ability to synchronise email, contacts and calendar information across a number of devices. It also provides them with access to a company-wide contacts book.

Ceri Evans, IT and facilities manager at Gill's Cruise Centre, said the Google Apps pay-per-user price model had been a key factor in its deployment.

He said: "The Google infrastructure means everything is based off-site, which improves email security and provides an added disaster recovery benefit. Should anything happen, staff can work effectively from any location at any time."

David McLeman, managing director of Ancoris, said: "The transition of people and technology for Gill's Cruise Centre was achieved in less than a day and will deliver financial benefits and innovation for many years to come."
