MTI drives off with Toyota deal

Systems integrator clinches desktop virtualisation deal with motoring giant

Systems integrator MTI has clinched a desktop virtualisation deal with car maker Toyota GB.

The deal will see all the PCs within the Toyota UK network replaced with a centralised virtual desktop based on VMware and EMC technology.

Colin Wright, director of virtualisation at MTI, cited the technology underpinning its desktop virtualisation work as the reason why it clinched the deal.

Wright said: "[Our approach] ensures the design and delivery of a successful desktop virtualisation solution that meets customer requirements without needing a lengthy, ongoing management investment."

Mark Saunders, enterprise IT solutions manager at Toyota GB, said the firm had decided to switch to virtual desktops to help cut costs.

He said: "Toyota GB was keen to take advantage of the overall reduction in PC total cost of ownerships and the reduction in CO2 output that desktop virtualisation brings."
