West Midlands VAR acquires managed services and hosting business of troubled rival

Enforce Technology has acquired part of troubled VAR Network SI in a deal that promises to save two thirds of the firm's workforce.

As revealed by ChannelWeb, the West Midlands-based Microsoft, Citrix and HP partner recently appointed insolvency practitioners RSM Tenon to oversee its activities. A representative said yesterday that the firm could be placed in administration today and was looking for a buyer.

Network SI today released a statement confirming the acquisition of its managed services and hosting business by Enforce Technology, which is also based in the West Midlands.

The statement said it is "business as usual" for Network SI's customers, and that 65 per cent of the firm's employees will be kept on.

It states: "This acquisition by Enforce Technology brings great synergy to the group, enabling our collective customers to take advantage of a broader range of products and services in the future.

"We will be contacting all our customers over the next few days to update them on this exciting venture."

Ian Platt, managing director of Network SI vendor partner Ericom, said the company would be a good proposition for whoever acquired it.

He said: "Network SI has a great heritage and install base of customers, which would make it a good deal for someone who is in a position to market and manage both these areas effectively."
