Microsoft shuffles UK management deck

Clare Barclay and Simon Aldous handed new roles as part of vendor's cloud push

Software giant Microsoft has reshuffled its senior management team, with UK channel boss Clare Barclay and distribution head Simon Aldous taking on new roles.

Aldous has stepped down as UK director of SMB and distribution to head up the firm's UK hosting arm, and Barclay (pictured) has been announced as his replacement.

Barclay will continue to fulfil her current role as director of partner programmes and strategy at Microsoft until a replacement is found.

In a statement released by Microsoft this afternoon, the vendor said the personnel changes were part of the firm's growing emphasis on cloud computing.

It said: "Simon will work closely with Microsoft's hosting partners to build on their existing services, and will bring specific insight and expertise about the challenges faced in the SMB space that will be extremely beneficial to our hosting providers.

"A large part of Clare's role will focus on helping our customers and existing partners transition to the cloud, as well as developing new channels for delivering cloud services."
