CA launches EMEA-wide distribution review

RFI process begins in full-on examination of data management routes to market

CA Technologies has confirmed it is conducting a full-scale review of its data management distribution strategy across the EMEA region.

But the software behemoth has stressed that "significant changes to our distribution" landscape are not the stated goal of the request for information (RFI) process.

Distributors across EMEA are being issued with an RFI. Chris Ross, CA's EMEA and Asia-Pacific vice president of data management CSU, claimed the vendor wants to get more aligned with distribution partners.

"The goal of this process is to gain an even deeper understanding of our distributors' business, and how their strategies are evolving," he said. "CA Technologies wants to ensure that our focus for FY12 aligns to our distributors' priorities."

The company has "no plans at this stage" to make wholesale changes to its EMEA distribution landscape, added Ross. He explained that the review was designed "to ensure that what we do supports the different requirements to drive our mutual objectives".

CA's data management kit is currently distributed in the UK by Ingram Micro and Arrow ECS.

Westcoast works with the vendor in Ireland and sales and marketing director Alex Tatham claimed his firm would be interested in examining opportunities to work together in the UK.

CA also intends to grow sales in the data management space this year, claimed Ross, with reseller recruitment on the agenda.

"We will continue to be tightly aligned with our distributors in providing support for the channel, together with a combined strategy to drive growth in the data management business, to recruit more partners and ultimately reach more end users," he added.
