Distributor signs up to market Acer-owned vendor's new HPC server range

Gateway has signed a European distribution deal with Stordis to push its new range of high-performance computing (HPC) servers.

The Acer-owned vendor said appointing Stordis was part of its aim to create trust in the brand within the channel.

Sean Stacey, EMEA business development manager for technical and productivity computing at Acer, said: "Acer Group's aim is to build trust in this market through a strategy entirely reliant on a specialised channel.

"We have brought Stordis on board because they can deliver a genuine value-added service to our channel partners and customers in the high-performance space."

In particular, the German-based distributor said it will target the Gateway product line at resellers in the research, finance and media verticals.

Alexander Jeffries, managing director at Stordis, said: "Having moved to dominate the notebook and desktop market in the past few years, Acer Group has now set its sights firmly on capturing a significant share of the server market.

"This perfectly complements Stordis' existing portfolio of high-performance networking and storage products," Jeffries added.
