Synaxon gears up for 2011 growth

Trade body claims it is on track to have 1,500 members by 2012

Trade body Synaxon UK has outlined ambitious plans for 2011 following two years of strong growth.

The organisation, which currently employs eight staff and owns the EGIS online procurement platform, said it saw 125 per cent business growth in 2010 and is aiming for 170 per cent growth this year.

It now boasts 669 reseller members with a combined gross revenue of £700m, with 47 participating suppliers (including distributors and vendors).

Speaking to CRN, Derek Jones, managing director of Synaxon UK, said: "Back in 2008, I set out a vision that we would have 1,500 members by the end of 2012, along with 30 participating distributors and 50 participating vendors.

"We are on track with those growth plans, and it means that we will represent £1bn in combined revenues, which is 10 per cent of the UK IT market."

Jones added that Synaxon is still looking for members, but that it is being selective over its new recruits.

"We focus on quality members and do not just take on everyone that applies," he said.
