Atos to cut 135 jobs amid group reorganisation
The layoffs will impact the company’s headcount in France
French reseller Atos is to lay off up to 135 employees in France as part of its new restructuring strategy.
This represents over one per cent of the group’s workforce in its home country, which currently numbers 9,631 people.
According to Le Monde Informatique, these changes will mainly affect support services in sectors such as marketing, HR, and finance.
These changes fall under the group’s “Genesis” strategy, first outlined in May, which targets €10bn (£8.65bn) in annual revenue by 2028.
The company says it wants to change its structure to become more coherent and competitive, as it aims to return to growth.
Formal negotiations with employee representatives are set to begin on 16 September.
This is not the first time Atos has turned to job reductions over the last 12 months.
In October 2024, the firm declared it intended to delete 2,250 jobs over the next two years in Europe, according to La Lettre.
At the end of September last year, the reseller reported a headcount of 82,211 employees, down more than 10.3 per cent from the end of June 2024.
On the other hand, the company hired 1,839 people during the third quarter of FY24.
It also intends to double down on its focus on AI, as the company plans to grow its AI division from 2,000 to 10,000 employees by 2028, as part of its “Genesis” plan.
These cuts come as the company has been through a tough financial year, with revenue going down 10.4 per cent in FY24, landing at €9.58bn compared to €10.69bn the year prior.
The business has also faced instability at the top.
The reseller has seen seven CEOs succeeding each other over the last four years; Elie Girard, Rodolphe Belmer, Nourdine Bihmane, Yves Bernaert, Paul Saleh, Jean-Pierre Mustier, and currently Phillipe Salle, who has held this title since February 2025.
