Former Auxilion CEO Philip Maguire to focus on two-year-long M&A hunt as executive chairman
Maguire’s new focus is on the MSP’s strategic direction and acquisition strategy
Philip Maguire has traded his CEO role for executive chairman of Auxilion to focus on the MSP’s more than two-year-long search for an acquisition.
The Dublin-HQ group announced Patrick Jordan as its new chief exec last week after over 12 years with Maguire at its helm.
The announcement also revealed Auxilion’s three-year growth strategy after a fresh €10m investment.
To support this next stage of growth, Maguire will “focus on Auxilion’s strategic direction and acquisition strategy” in his new role.
Back in September 2023 Maguire told CRN he was still on the hunt for an acquisition to give Auxilion the right customer base, sales capabilities, and more market presence in the UK.
More than two years on, the MSP has ramped up its M&A search with Maguire spearheading the hunt.
“Part of his role will be to continue to find the acquisition that's right for Auxilion and our markets,” Jordan tells CRN.
“It's been an interesting 18 months in that space. We're obviously looking for value, but more importantly, we're looking for the right company to acquire in terms of cultural fits, strategy and adding value to our people and clients.
“That'll be a big part of Phillip’s role as executive chairman is to continue that search, but we're actively looking at the minute.”
Jordan adds the managed services outfit is interested in two things: geography and a technology fit.
“An acquisition in the UK market is a priority for us.
“But it's more in terms of it has to be the right fit for Auxilion in terms of our three-year plan. And cultural fit and like-mindedness are both very important factors.
“Clearly, they'll have to complement our technology strategy in terms of managed services and professional services.
“But we're also working very closely with our partner network, like ServiceNow and a number of other large partners across Ireland and the UK. So having a strategic fit in the technology space that we're in is obviously really important.”
