HP is celebrating its highest ever EcoVadis score of 90, up from 83 in 2024, and claimed the benefits will be felt across its channel.

The independent benchmark assesses a company’s sustainability performance across four key areas: Environment, Labour and Human Right, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The vendor also was awarded a Platinum medal for the 15th consecutive year.

Speaking to CRN, Nancy Powell, manager, sustainability UK&I and EMEA markets, said the score is testament to the HP team’s hard work and commitment to sustainability goals.

“We know that as sustainability gets more complicated and wraps in different themes, these certifications are used as a shorthand to ask what third parties think, and EcoVadis has filtered to the top as a rating that customers appreciate and value. It also has great global coverage with over 100,000 companies signed up.”

Powell explained that to achieve such a high rating, innovating through solutions has really helped to drive HP’s success.

“Sustainability is a space where innovation counts,” she said. “Planning for new solutions that customers can get excited about such as refurbishment round the Renew Programme. But to achieve this rating, your performance cannot be singularly spectacular in just one area, it has to be universal across the board – everything has to be moving forward simultaneously.”

Looking ahead, Powell said HP will be aiming for more of the same, and will be continually looking to make improvements in all aspects of sustainability and growing those, along with further building out its solutions portfolio.

“Our Net Zero target is 2040 – a decade ahead of our competitors, and that is central to HP – we are constantly making sure that North Star of Net Zero remains the default.”

She added that the score will also benefit HP’s partners because they are being asked the same thing by customers.

“[Customers] want to see evidence of seriousness around sustainability so they can meet their own targets and make the right choices around technology,” Powell said. “This score is just as valuable to partners as it is to us because it shows that sustainability is a key component of what comes if you buy HP through any of our channel partners. Many of our partners have EdoVadis certification, and through this shared certification, the way we can complete tenders and RFPs sends a strong message.”

Kevin Wragg, UK&I Sustainability director at TD SYNNEX agreed that the score is great news for the channel.

“For HP to increase their EcoVadis score from 83 to 90 in a year that the scoring system was made even harder is testament to the effort HP are investing in the ESG space.,” he said.

“For a multi-national global IT manufacturing company to achieve such a high score demonstrates to the industry that success can be achieved with time, effort and investment. This will have a positive impact on the channel and elevate the bar for other vendors within our industry.”
