Kainos shares H1 gains across all divisions
The results follow CEO Brendan Mooney’s reappointment in December
Belfast-based IT services provider Kainos has recorded revenue on the up in H1 FY26, supported by good progress across its three divisions; Workday products, Workday services, and digital services.
Earnings rose seven per cent to £196.1m for the Workday partner.
Meanwhile revenue in Workday products leapt 14 per cent, from £34.3m to £39.2m.
In Workday services, top line increased four per cent to £53.4m (HY FY25: £51.5m), reflecting strong performance in the Americas that offset a slower recovery in EMEA.
Gains in Australia, New Zealand, as well as emerging opportunities in LATAM also contributed.
Digital services performance
This business unit generated £103.5m, a six per cent increase from £97.3m last year.
Within digital services, healthcare earnings climbed 33 per cent to £29.6m (H1 FY25: £22.3m).
On the other hand, public sector revenue declined three per cent to £59.7m, compared to £61.4m at the same time the year before.
New contracts secured in the first half of the year are expected to lead to revenue growth in both sectors in H2 of the financial year.
"This was a positive six months for Kainos, underpinned by our success in securing several new contracts with new and existing customers,” said Brendan Mooney, CEO of Kainos.
"Workday Services has returned to revenue growth, as our core European and North American markets improve and we grow further in other international markets.”
These results come following Mooney’s reappointment to the CEO role in December 2024, after he first led the company from 2001 to 2023.
International markets and clients
International operations accounted for 43 per cent of the LSE-listed firm’s total revenue, (revenue derived from locations outside of UK and Ireland) reaching £84.9m in H1 FY26, up 13 per cent from £75.4m.
Workday services and Workday products remained heavily international, with 83 per cent of earnings coming from overseas clients.
While Kainos’ existing clients generated £166.6m in H1 FY25, its customer base also expanded from 1,022 to 1,169.
The provider now employs 3,132 people across 18 countries, with offices in the UK, Ireland, Poland, France, Finland, Belgium, Argentina, the US, and Canada.
Artificial intelligence
New technologies have also impacted H1 results, as earnings from AI and related projects increased six per cent to £15.3m, as Kainos continues to work with customers to help them realise value from AI.
The company stated many engagements are at an early stage and modest in scale, but are already delivering impact, particularly in the use of AI assistants.
As one of 15 global partners selected as a design partner for the Workday Agent System of Record (ASoR), Workday remains a major focus for Kainos in this space.
