Orange Cyberdefense acquires ensec to address Swiss SMB security

This acquisition allows the VAR to establish a presence in German-speaking Switzerland

Orange Cyberdefense, the cybersecurity subsidiary of Orange, has acquired 100 per cent of ensec, a Swiss cybersecurity company based in Zurich, to consolidate its presence in the country.

The acquisition of ensec brings 40 employees and a portfolio of over 130 clients operating in sectors such as finance, retail, and energy, as well as customers from the public sector.

The Zurich-based firm offers consulting, IT security integration, managed security services, and support for products from various cybersecurity providers.

The acquisition also marks Orange Cyberdefense’s entry into German-speaking Switzerland, enabling it to offer its customers in these regions a local presence.

The firm has already been involved in the French-speaking part of the country since 2022 through the buyouts of SCRT and Telsys.

The company already has 100 employees in Switzerland, as well as customers from both the public and private sectors, ranging from SMBs to multinationals, in collaboration with Orange Business.

“The acquisition of ensec marks a significant milestone in our European development, enabling us to better serve our customers with comprehensive, high-impact cybersecurity solutions,” said Hugues Foulon, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense.

“This move not only strengthens our market position among Germanic customers in Switzerland but also underscores our commitment to build a safer digital society for our clients and partners.”

Nicolas Lutz, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense Switzerland, added: “We strongly believe that the combination of our respective activities in Switzerland makes sense for our customers by providing increased proximity and the ability to respond rapidly irrespective of language-related constraints.

“In addition, ensec's recognised expertise in consulting and cybersecurity integration makes for a perfect match that will build on our existing capabilities to create a dynamic Swiss cyber champion.”

Mike Schuler, CEO of ensec, explained that the acquisition would give its company access to Orange Cyberdefense’s portfolio, products, and vast footprint, and would.

In return, he highlighted that ensec will bring its technical expertise, local presence, and partnerships to reinforce the acquirer’s presence in the region.

Orange also counts a presence outside of continental Europe, as the organisation ranks number 66 in CRN’s Top VARs 2025 list.
