Cybersecurity services provider Saepio today announces its first ever acquisition with the buyout of penetration testing specialist, Ruptura.

Based in Milton Keynes, the freshly acquired company adds 15 heads to its new owner, bringing Saepio’s total headcount to just under 100 people.

The takeover marks Saepio’s first ever M&A move and its first major development since it was acquired by tech duo Amir Nooriala and Daniel Cardenas-Clark last year.

The deal follows an existing partnership of several years between the two companies where Ruptura conducted pen tests for Saepio’s clients to ensure its cybersecurity recommendations were resilient and robust.

“The timing of this acquisition is excellent. We will expand the penetration testing business and offer additional offensive security services to match the needs of our clients and fulfil our ambition of becoming the largest independent cyber security provider in the UK and Europe,” said Amir Nooriala, co-CEO of Seapio (pictured right).

“Our clients face an evolving set of cyber challenges, and we are on a mission to help them solve as many as possible. Additionally, Saepio is committed to maintaining the high quality of work that Ruptura’s clients have come to expect.”

Ruptura founder and managing director Tom Heenan will become Saepio’s director of offensive security.

Ruptura’s pen testing skills have been globally recognised in competitions, with its team ranking number one in the UK in the Hack the Box Capture the Flag event for 2023 and 2024, and 14th and 9th in the world, respectively.

Saepio’s acquisition brings Ruptura’s Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus solutions and certification body status - part of the UK government’s certification scheme - to its clients.

More M&A to follow?

Saepio co-CEO Daniel Cardenas-Clark (pictured left) tells CRN that further acquisitions are only logical given Saepio’s ambitious growth targets.

“We're looking at other opportunities,” he says.

“We've got pretty ambitious goals. We want to build what is the UK's largest dedicated cyber security specialist, and an even more ambitious goal of doing that for Europe.

“So M&A is going to be a core part of that over the coming years.”

He adds that a different skill set and expertise Saepio doesn’t currently have in-house is appealing to the security expert for a deal.

“We can say without hesitation that our laser focus is ‘solving as many of our customers cyber problems as possible’.

“If we do that and commit to delivering excellence, Saepio will be in a great place. That is exactly why we brought Ruptura’s talented team in-house, and that’s why we’ll continue to put our customers as the centre of everything we do.”
