Atos has secured a contract worth up to £350m with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to manage and secure applications across its technology estate.

The six-year arrangement will see the IT services organisation provide service management, application management and application security services, with the option to extend the deal for another two years.

The MPS can also expand the scope of the contract to include managed cloud and digital workplace services.

Beyond its core application responsibilities, Atos could take on a wider role across the MPS technology estate.

The contract gives the force the option to add managed cloud services, extending Atos’ responsibility across application performance and service delivery.

Digital workplace services can also be brought into the agreement, including the management of end-user devices and secure access to workplace tools and platforms.

“We are proud to expand our partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service, helping to support the critical digital infrastructure that underpins policing across London,” said Michael Herron, head of Atos UKI.

“This award reflects the expertise, resilience and dedication of our teams, as well as the trust we have built over many years of working together.

“We look forward to continuing to deliver secure, reliable and scalable services that support both frontline policing and the communities the MPS serves.”

Jamie Hewitt, director of digital product delivery at the MPS, added: “Our collaboration with Atos will provide a stable digital foundation for our officers and staff, supporting the ongoing modernisation and simplification of our application landscape and driving greater efficiency and effectiveness across the technology that underpins frontline policing."

The contract marks an expansion of Atos’ existing relationship with the force.

In 2015, Atos secured the Met's service integration and management contract.

The relationship expanded in 2021 when Atos landed an application management services contract worth up to £350m over seven years.

Under the agreement, the vendor was tasked with maintaining and modernising the Met's application estate as part of its digital policing strategy.

Other recent wins for Atos include a May 2026 contract with HMRC worth up to £78.2m and a five-year €50m agreement with a UK energy and utilities provider in July.

The firm also secured contracts and framework agreements during H1 FY26 with organisations including the Dutch Ministry of Defence, the European Patent Office and the Dutch National Police.

The deal comes amid a challenging financial period for the French group.

In H1, Atos' top line dropped 15 per cent to €3.4bn (£2.9bn), although the reported decline was partly driven by the disposal of its Bull, Ideal GRP and South American operations.

In FY25, turnover plummeted 20 per cent to €8bn.
