In October 2025, Celerity brought together 25 senior public sector leaders from local government, central government and NHS Trusts for a day built entirely around collaboration.

Rather than a traditional conference format, the event featured structured roundtable discussions on AI orchestration, hands-on IBM client engineering workshops addressing real-world implementation challenges, and cross-organisation peer sessions designed to get people from different parts of the public sector working through shared problems together.

It was a deliberate shift away from the lecture-style events that dominate the sector's calendar, and it paid off.

Attendees described the conversations as unlike anything available to them elsewhere: honest, practical and genuinely collaborative.

One delegate from DWP highlighted the value of joining colleagues from councils, the NHS and other sectors, noting that collaboration is the only way forward. Another left the day feeling focused, energised and ready to drive meaningful change.

The moment that stayed with people

A standout element was an exclusive tour of IBM's innovation studio, including the quantum computing suite. For many attendees, it was a jaw-dropping experience, a tangible reminder that the future of technology is already here. The moment gave the entire event a sense of occasion that extended well beyond the day itself, with attendees sharing their experience across social media and LinkedIn in the weeks that followed.

Results that speak for themselves

What truly sets this event apart is the commercial impact it delivered. From just 25 attendees, Celerity booked six follow-up meetings and launched three IBM client engineering proof-of-concept engagements, generating over £250,000 in pipeline focused on watsonx Orchestrate. Those POCs are now progressing across high-value public sector use cases including FOI automation and AI-assisted discharge and bed occupancy management.

The numbers tell a compelling story: a 32 per cent conversion rate from attendee to booked meeting, and 12 per cent conversion to active POC, proof that the quality of the audience and the depth of engagement on the day translated directly into commercial momentum.

Strengthening strategic partnerships

The event also reinforced Celerity's standing with its partners. IBM recognised the day as a standout success, cementing Celerity's reputation as a trusted partner capable of driving genuine senior-level client engagement. GovNews brought credibility and reach within the public sector that extended the event's audience and influence far beyond what Celerity could have achieved alone.

Why it matters

In a crowded landscape of channel events, Celerity's AI Innovation Roundtable stands out because it prioritised genuine value for attendees over self-promotion. By creating a space where senior public sector leaders could collaborate openly, explore emerging technology hands-on and build connections across organisational boundaries, Celerity demonstrated what a partner event looks like when it's designed around the audience first, and the results followed naturally.
