CRN Sales & Marketing Awards - Finalist Q&A with Tim Stiles, VP, sales and account management at Techary

Tim Stiles talks being a finalist at this year's CRN Sales & Marketing Awards

What prompted you to enter the CRN Awards this year?

The last year has been a benchmark year for Techary, with a new HQ and warehouse opening in Orpington, Sales launching a new team in the EU, Techary’s new proprietary portal launching and higher vendor accreditations being achieved.

However, as with everything we do, the driver for us to enter this year really came from our customers themselves. The feedback we have received over the last year mixed with our growth has given us the confidence that what we are doing here at Techary is resonating within the market, and we felt like entering the CRN Awards was the natural way to honour that.

What would winning this award mean to both your people and your customers/partners?

If Techary was to win either of the awards we have been nominated for then I think it will be a moment of genuine pride for the company that would effect both our internal teams and external customers.

From my personal perspective, I think being nominated for both best sales team and best place to work is confirmation that the growth we've delivered hasn't come at the cost of the culture we care so much about.

What would you say is your company's proudest achievement over the past year?

Over the last year we have had numerous achievements that I wish I could highlight here. But I would personally say that the last year has been punctuated by measured growth.

We continuously invest in the areas that matter most to our customers. This includes the launch of our new HQ, which includes a warehouse three times the size of our previous one, significantly advancing our lifecycle capabilities. Alongside this, we have made substantial investment into our people, with the launch of dedicated EU Sales and Service Delivery teams.

What have been the biggest challenges of the current year so far and how have you overcome them?

The macro environment over the past year has created a complex and uncertain market. However, Techary's unique solutions and global scale have allowed us to navigate this confidently, while continuing to invest in the capabilities that help our customers manage the day-to-day challenges the current landscape presents.

What are the key demands you are seeing from your customers this year?

The biggest demand we're seeing this year is simplification. Customers are managing too many vendors, too many tools, and are having too many overlapping conversations. We are seeing that customers are actively looking to consolidate around fewer, more strategic partners who can take genuine ownership across the stack. The pace of change, particularly around AI, has only sharpened that appetite. They want partners who can move quickly and help them make confident decisions about their infrastructure. We have seen that simplification doesn't mean doing less, it actually means doing more with IT but with the right strategic partner.

Which technology trend currently still in hype stage are you placing your bets on?

AI is still the hype. At Techary, we are looking not at how we can build out AI applications, but at how we can deliver the AI infrastructure that actually sits beneath the workloads and helps scale organisations' adoption of this ever-advancing technology. There is an enormous amount of noise about AI at the application layer, but far less conversation about whether organisations actually have the compute, storage, and network foundations to support it at scale and that is where Techary is positioning itself as a key stakeholder in helping firms adopt AI.
