Focus Group continues acquisition streak with Prime Networks takeover
Following a multi-year acquisition streak, Focus Group has added another MSP to its portfolio with its latest buy
Focus Group has acquired Prime Networks, marking the latest step in the VAR’s expansion of its IT, cybersecurity, and AI capabilities.
Founded in 2009, Prime Networks supports around 500 SME customers with IT support, security, and managed services. The business is no stranger to acquisitions, as Prime itself acquired seven businesses along the way.
Under the new acquisition deal, Prime Network’s customers will gain access to Focus Group’s wider portfolio spanning AI, automation, and IT, while remaining supported by the same specialist backing they are accustomed to.
“With AI, IT and cyber security now making up more than half of everything we offer, we’re building the expertise to help more SMEs use technology with confidence, not just adopt it for its own sake,” commented Neil Hall, CEO, Focus Group.
Focus Group remains one of the UK’s most acquisitive technology providers, and the business has been increasingly acquiring MSPs alongside its traditional telecoms offering.
Focus Group’s strong acquisition streak
Focus Group, which ranks 18th in CRN’s Top VARs 2025, has evolved from a telecoms reseller into a full-stack provider of business technology, fueled by its aggressive acquisition streak.
Back in 2024, Focus Group’s CRO, Rhys Bailey told CRN, “A core part of our strategy is to continue to do M&A, so the rate at which we’re buying will continue at a fast pace for FY25 and onwards,” and the company has stuck to its word with a whole host of acquisitions.
The deal marks Focus Group’s second acquisition of 2026, following its acquisition of Communications Plus in July 2026.
Focus Group explained to CRN at the time that it had six acquisitions planned for 2025, and made good on its word, including acquisitions of Matrix247 and Voice Connect.
In 2024, Focus acquired 10 businesses, including Prism, Silver Lining, Entropie, and Cellular Solutions, among others.
Focus explained that it expects future deals to be split between communications and IT-focused businesses.
Leadership shuffle
Following the acquisition, Mark Simons steps down as the CEO of Prime Networks after 17 years at the helm.
In an announcement on LinkedIn, Simons reflected, “What a journey we’ve been on!
“Today marks the final chapter of that journey, with the acquisition of Prime by Focus Group.
“I'm incredibly proud that the business we've built is becoming part of Focus and excited to see where they take it from here.”
As Simons steps away from the business, Tony Mole steps into the position of Managing Director, after five years as Prime Network’s Technical Director.
