Cheadle-based Microsft partner mhance has hired Chris Allan as its new CEO to build on its acquisition by private equity firm SilverTree Equity in September.

Allan has previously been at the helm of various investment house-backed tech organisations including Adludio, Livingstone, vast:visibility and SmartFocus (acquired by Actito in 2019).

He also led Quantum Retail Technology from 2014 to 2015 and held senior roles at Accenture and Retek, now part of Oracle.

The company's new chief will aim to boost mhance’s Microsoft-first approach and evolve the business into a data-driven partner aligned to how customers operate across the vendor’s cloud.

He replaces Alan Moody, who has held the CEO role since 2018.

"What attracted me to mhance was the strength of the foundations already in place; loyal customers, experienced teams and a reputation for integrity," said Allan.

"With SilverTree’s backing, we have a strong opportunity to further invest in areas such as Power Platform, data and AI and broader horizontal cloud capabilities.

“This will allow us to enhance our leadership position in the not‑for‑profit sector, increase the value we deliver to customers and accelerate growth across additional verticals."

Julian Stone, chairman of mhance, added: “[Allan] brings a deep understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem and the leadership discipline required to scale a high-performing managed services and solutions business.

“We are confident that under his leadership, mhance will strengthen its market position and continue to deliver increasing value for customers and shareholders alike."

Stone was appointed chairman of the company following its acquisition four months ago.

mhance currently employs more than 120 people and serves 500 customers in the UKI.

In its latest set of results filed on Companies House for the year ended 31 December 2024, the firm’s earnings increased nearly 18 per cent from £13m to £15.4m.

The group’s adjusted EBITDA soared around 91 per cent to £1.5m, compared with £766.5k the year prior.

This momentum was reportedly driven by an enhanced focus on project delivery, robust recuring revenues, efficient cost and overhead management as well as contracted SaaS and support revenues.
