Midwich hires new CFO amid flatlining turnover
Stephen Lamb is to step down after nearly eight years in the role
Midwich has appointed Adam Councell as CFO, effective from 2 March.
He will replace Stephen Lamb, who is set to step down from his role on 28 February, marking the end of a nearly eight-year tenure.
Councell has previously held senior financial leadership positions across various companies, including Rentokil Initial, Restore plc and Fuller, Smith & Turner.
Since 2021, he has served as CFO at UK-based compliance and risk management services firm Marlowe plc.
“I am thrilled to be joining Midwich at such an exciting time,” said Councell.
“It is a great business with an excellent market position and a strong culture.
“I am looking forward to working with [group MD Stephen Fenby] and the team in the coming months as we look to execute the compelling growth strategy."
Andrew Herbert, non-exec chairman at Midwich, added: “[Councell] has extensive financial, plc and leadership experience gained across B2B services and has a proven track record of delivering growth through both organic and acquisition-led strategies.
"I would also like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the board, to thank [Lamb] for everything that he has done for Midwich since joining in 2018 and we wish him every success in his new role."
This appointment comes after the distributor shared stalling results in its trading update for the year ended 31 December 2025.
Revenue is expected to stand at £1.3bn, dragged down by a decline in organic and continuing earnings.
The UK, which represents around 40 per cent of the Norfolk-based organisation’s turnover, grew by approximately seven per cent, fuelled by new vendor launches and market share gains.
This momentum was not enough to offset decline in EMEA and the US, as organic top line decreased 1.5 per cent year-on-year.
In December, the distributor also announced the closure of its Swiss business, MobilePro AG, after it was deemed no longer viable.
