OVHcloud has purchased French end-to-end encryption technologies company Seald to add “zero knowledge” capabilities to its platform.

Through this model, data is encrypted before being sent and can only be decrypted by the final receiving users on their devices, meaning no third parties can access the information.

The software development kit developed by Seald has obtained a CSPN security visa delivered by the Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d'information (ANSSI), the French government authority for cybersecurity.

This reportedly allows for quick integration of end-to-end encryption in web apps and mobile apps and enables the management of access rights, encryption key rotation, multi-device management and secure retrieval of private keys.

With this deal, the firm plans to natively integrate end-to-end encryption into its offering, complementing solutions such as Secret Manager, KMS and HSM.

This follows good momentum across Q1 FY26 for the French vendor, with revenues rising six per cent to €275.3m (£238.7m), driven by growth across its public cloud, private cloud and web cloud divisions.

While this marks the company’s first acquisition since 2023, OVHcloud has revamped its leadership team and expanded its European footprint over the past 12 months.

Octave Klaba, founder of the organisation, returned as CEO in October 2025, taking over from Benjamin Revcolevschi who assumed the role for a year.

It also named Brigid Mansfield as channel scheme manager for Northern Europe and Filippo Sanesi as global partner programme director in August.

Mansfield has since left to join Scottish data migration and integration software provider Condatis as a Microsoft alliance manager.

OVHcloud also opened a 3-availability zone (AZ) in Berlin in November in an effort to strengthen the security and resilience of European digital infrastructures.

Earlier last year, it deployed a new 3-AZ region in Italy to consolidate its presence across the continent.

The firm now counts three of these sites, in addition to the one in Paris it opened in 2024.
