Version 1 lands £52m HMLR data deal

The agreement will support the government agency’s data modernisation scheme, with the option of a one-year extension

Dublin-HQ IT services provider Version 1 has secured a four-year contract with HM Land Registry (HMLR) worth up to £52m to revamp how the agency’s land and property data is managed, delivered and accessed.

The organisation has been appointed as HMLR’s Data Delivery Partner following a competitive procurement process, with the option of a further one-year extension.

The £52m figure represents the maximum call-off value of the contract rather than guaranteed spend.

The programme will span data services, geospatial analytics, reporting infrastructure and digital accessibility, with HMLR aiming to retain and develop its own internal capabilities throughout the project.

Work is already underway on the design and build of a prototype environment for HMLR’s Geospatial and Data Transformation programme.

The platform is expected to support future work under the contract focused on improving access to and use of land and property data across the property market and public sector.

Kirsty Eales, deputy director of strategic resourcing, planning and performance at HMLR, said the scheme is aimed at getting more value from that data.

“This programme is about making that data work harder for our organisation, for government and for the citizens and businesses who depend on it every day,” she explained.

“We needed a partner that understands the land economy, operates well in a risk-sensitive environment and is committed to HMLR achieving its own capability rather than creating long-term dependency.”

Version 1 CEO Roop Singh described HMLR as “one of the most data-rich organisations in the UK public sector”, adding that the impact of the project stretches beyond the agency itself.

“Programmes of this ambition succeed or fail on whether the client is leading from the front,” he said.

“HMLR is doing just that and our job is to match that ambition, bring the right expertise to bear and make sure the capability we build together outlasts our involvement.”

The deal comes shortly after Singh toldCRN that the company was making good progress towards its €1bn journey.

“I am very confident that this year we will show very strong double-digit growth in the market,” he explained.

The announcement also follows a series of new partnerships made by Version 1 since the start of 2026.

Three weeks ago, it secured a deal with Wiltshire-based egg producer Stonegate Farmers to modernise the technology platform at the heart of its operations.

In January, it won a £190m arrangement with Lincolnshire County Council to implement digital solutions across areas such as education, adult care and social services.

Version 1’s UK arm ranks number 39 on CRN’s Top VARs list.
