VitrX CEO Vince O’Hanlon says strong cultural alignment and long-standing employee loyalty were among the main reasons the solution provider chose to make its first foray into M&A.

Yesterday VitrX confirmed it had acquired London-based reseller Wentworth Computer Holdings, marking the first acquisition in the company’s history.

VitrX CEO Vince O’Hanlon tells CRN in an exclusive interview the deal follows the passing of Wentworth founder Ashok Rabheru, after which the Rabheru family began looking for a buyer that would maintain the business’s values and culture.

“They were looking for someone to acquire the business who shared the same vision and business values and where the Wentworth team would fit culturally very well with the VitrX ethos and staff welfare,” O’Hanlon says.

He adds the companies also bring matching strengths to the table.

“Wentworth has complementary skills and strong vendor relationships, and there is no crossover between our client bases.”

Wentworth’s customer base spans a range of sectors, including financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, legal and entertainment.

Loyal workforce

VitrX’s employee headcount currently stands at 27 people.

For O’Hanlon, Wentworth’s own workforce was another standout factor in the deal.

“Wentworth has amazingly loyal and driven employees, with the shortest-serving employee having been with the business for 25 years.”

The acquisition brings together two established solution providers with long-standing vendor relationships and enterprise customers across multiple sectors.

First step into M&A

The deal marks VitrX’s first move into mergers and acquisitions.

“This is the first acquisition for VitrX,” O’Hanlon confirms.

While the company is not actively pursuing further acquisitions this year, he did not rule out additional deals if the right opportunity emerges.

“I’m not actively looking, but if the right opportunity comes along, who knows.”
