Wasabi turns up the heat on sustainability reporting with launch of Impact Circle
Cloud storage vendor unveils strategy to help its partners and MSPs measure and address carbon emissions associated with customers’ cloud storage use
With sustainability creeping up the priority list for both partners and customers, cloud storage vendor Wasabi is offering its channel a boost with its new Impact Circle initiative.
Designed to help partners and MSPs measure and address the carbon emissions associated with their customers’ cloud storage usage, the Impact Circle works by tracking storage-related carbon footprints and allowing partners to buy high integrity carbon credits from curated, verified climate projects worldwide.
According to Wasabi’s own research, sustainability, along with data protection and performance are among the top three considerations for end users when it comes to picking their cloud storage provider or service.
The Wasabi Impact Circle is powered by Zero Circle – a sustainable finance marketplace – and builds on an existing partnership with the organisation which includes an invoice-based carbon footprint calculator that allows users to upload invoices and see emissions costs in real time.
According to Wasabi, users can choose portfolios aligned with their own sustainability goals, climate priorities and impact preferences and Zero Circle will manage the sourcing, evaluation and allocation of carbon credits within each portfolio.
In turn, portfolios can be prioritised based on simplicity, integrity and future-focused innovation such as emerging climate solutions and next-generation carbon removal technologies, the company claimed.
Drew Schlussel, product marketing VP at Wasabi, said the launch reinforces the vendor’s commitment to offering sustainable cloud storage solutions.
“We are continuously looking for meaningful ways to support our partners and their customers’ sustainability goals, and the Impact Circle empowers organisations to turn their storage emissions into measurable, real-world climate impact.”
Hemanth Setty, founder and CEO of Zero Circle, added: “We are excited to expand our partners with Wasabi, through the Impact Circle, customers can transform emissions into investment in projects that drive measurable environmental progress.”
