Content filtering challenger Cyan courts UK channel

Austria-based vendor crosses channel with white-label offering

Austrian vendor Cyan Networks is targeting UK resellers with what it claims is the first hosted content filtering solution that can be white-labelled.

Cyan touched down in the UK last year and has since hired former SurfControl and PointSec channel director Mark Peters to spearhead its hunt for local partners.

Peters said Cyan has been successful in German-speaking Europe with close to 400,000 seats under its belt.

"This is the first time I've come across a cloud-based content security solution they can white-label," he said. "All the customer sees is the reseller's logo and webpage so no one can outbid them as it's not clear what's behind it."

Peters said Cyan had similar functionality to ScanSafe but is between a third and a half of the price of market's largest players. Top-level Platinum partners, who commit to training and joint business plans, earn 40 per cent off list price.

Partners not comfortable with hosting the solution themselves or building the front end can back off the work to third-party, hosted service provider NetShield.
