Dell kicks off Compellent channel integration

Storage vendor's shareholders give buyout thumbs up

Compellent's shareholders have given the green light to the firm's $940m buyout by hardware giant Dell, bringing the deal to a close.

In a statement released yesterday, Dell revealed that its integration with the storage vendor was already underway by announcing plans to combine the firms' deal registration programmes.

Compellent's annual C-Drive partner conference, which takes place each May, will also be merged into the EqualLogic User Conference to create the Dell Storage Forum in June, the statement added.

This follows on from the announcement by Dell in December, when the two firms first entered merger talks, that it had signed a reseller agreement with Compellent.

Brad Anderson, senior vice president of Dell's Enterprise Product Group, said adding Compellent to the firm's portfolio would benefit enterprise users.

"Compellent complements our storage portfolio by providing next-generation storage solutions and proactive support that help enterprise customers optimise the management of their data," he said.

Phil Soran, president of Dell Compellent, added: "Our team is committed to helping Dell transform the datacentre with open, capable and affordable solutions that allow customers to do more with their IT dollars."
