Google launches reseller certification programme

Search giant to certify partners with migration and deployment skills in cloud applications

Search engine giant Google has introduced an accreditation programme to certify partners with the skills needed to deploy its cloud-based applications.

The firm unveiled its Google Apps Certification programme yesterday, which will allow the firm's 2,500 reseller partners worldwide to take online exams in its technology.

The first accreditation to be made available under the scheme will certify partners with the skills needed to deploy Google Apps and move end users onto the platform.

Before embarking on the exam, Google said candidates should have a minimum of three to six years of professional IT experience and have completed at least three Google Apps for Business deployments.

Candidates also need to be well versed in using the firm's Microsoft Exchange server migration tools.

In a blog post about the programme's launch, Google said its introduction was the result of partner feedback. It states: "Adoption of Google Apps is accelerating around the world with over three million businesses [now having] gone Google.

"As our partner community has more than doubled in the last year, partners have been seeking opportunities to demonstrate their expertise and competence to a growing customer base."
