Conseal reveals channel plans
Vendor unveils channel strategy for cloud-based USB security product
Conseal Security has ditched its 100 per cent direct sales strategy and is scouting for partners to market its cloud-based data protection product to the enterprise.
The Conseal USB product is vendor agnostic and allows end users to encrypt the data kept on portable storage devices using a web-based management portal.
In the event of the device being stolen, the portal also allows users to delete the data stored on it and keeps a record of who has tried to access it.
The product was previously sold direct, however, the vendor is now keen to forge ties with the security channel to boost take-up of the product in the mid-market and enterprise market.
Tom Colvin, chief technology officer at Conseal Security, said the vendor has a corporate licensing model to help make it easier for partners to land big deals. "The product is ideal for use in the finance, education and government markets, where data security breaches are often reported."
Bob Tarzey, service director at analyst Quocirca, said Conseal is entering a crowded marketplace.
"There are plenty of companies out there providing end-point encryption for portable devices and lots of mobile device management vendors that offer device wiping.
"Conseal may argue that doing both is a differentiator, but if you lose a device that is encrypted, you will not need to wipe it."
