LifeSize leaves Azlan's pride

Videoconferencing vendor parts ways with distributor in the UK, but continues to partner with Tech Data elsewhere

TDAzlan has split with videoconferencing vendor LifeSize, prompting the vendor to launch a distribution evaluation in the UK.

CRN understands that the vendor will be left with four UK distributors as a result: Touchline, Medium, Zycko and Tempura Communications.

In a statement sent to ChannelWeb, LifeSize said: "LifeSize is deeply committed to our channel partners worldwide. We consider our valued relationships with partners essential for providing customers with the very best solutions, services and support. Tech Data is one of our largest distributors globally and we have a positive, ongoing relationship with them.

"LifeSize UK and TDAzlan have mutually decided to hold the cooperation for the time being. Both companies decided their current business set-ups and ambitions were not concurrent. LifeSize UK is currently evaluating its distribution footprint."

The statement added: "In April 2010, we launched our enhanced channel partner programme globally and have seen a significant boost in the number of global resellers since the rollout, an increase of more than 32 per cent since implementing the programme. LifeSize now has more than 1,500 channel partners in 80 countries."

A source close to TDAzlan told ChannelWeb: “As Azlan has two significant video contracts, it needed to consolidate its resources with the major vendors, with Cisco acquiring Tandberg and the imminent launch of Avaya’s new Flare-based experience. Having resources attached to smaller video players in the market is not a sensible and pragmatic thing to do."
