TSG plotting telco acquisition spree

Sage founder Graham Wylie's VAR is zoning in on more targets following Croft purchase

VAR Technology Services Group (TSG) is planning an acquisition spree to support the rollout of its telecoms services to the SMB market.

The firm, which is bankrolled by Sage founder Graham Wylie, has clocked up more than 20 acquisitions since its launch in 2003.

A year ago, the company acquired telecoms provider Croft Technology. This led to the creation of TSG's Enterprise Solutions division, which specialises in the provision of unified communications, virtualisation and networking services to SMBs.

The division is now set to expand its services portfolio to include telecoms, which it aims to roll out across the UK this year.

Steve Cox, chief technology officer at TSG, said the firm plans to cement its move into the telecoms market with more acquisitions.

"We have recruited technical and sales staff to support our plans, and are open to more acquisitions in this market, and in other areas our business covers," he said.

Andrew Dickinson, managing director of ISP Griffin Internet, said: "TSG seems to be good at integrating its acquisitions and retaining talent, and it is set to be a force when the SMB market starts to embrace cloud."
