Former Oracle boss jumps ship to Fujitsu

Rob Walton brought in to push SI sales of hardware giant's server and storage products

Hardware giant Fujitsu has poached former Oracle boss Rob Walton to drive sales of its enterprise storage products via the systems integrator channel.

In his new role as head of sales for systems integrators and service providers at Fujitsu UK and Ireland, Walton will be heading up the firm's recruitment activities and ramping up sales of its Primergy server and Eternus storage lines.

"Systems integrators and service providers need to build scalable and reliable IT infrastructure for their clients or as a platform for their own service offerings," explained Walton.

"Fujitsu has a set of products and solutions that are ideal for these purposes. We want to ensure that systems houses and services organisations are fully aware."

Before joining Fujitsu, Walton was head of channel in Oracle's hardware division for 18 months and, prior to that, held a similar role at Sun Microsystems for three and a half years.
