Tech rich list winners revealed
Bill Gates and Larry Ellison both see estimated worth rise on year on year in Forbes' annual list of billionaires
Some 89 of the world's dollar billionaires made their fortunes from technology, according to Forbes' 2011 Rich List, with frontrunners Bill Gates and Larry Ellison both seeing their net worth rise year on year.
Microsoft founder Gates (pictured) was pipped to the top spot for a second year running by Mexican telecoms magnate Carlos Slim Helu.
Gates saw his fortune rise from $53bn to $56bn.
Oracle founder Ellison had a stellar year as his fortune surged from $28bn to $39.5bn year on year on the back of Oracle's soaring share price. He rose from sixth to fifth place in Forbes' standings.
Other tech names in the top 100 include Dell founder Michael Dell (44th) and Microsoft's Steve Ballmer (46th), who both slipped down the rankings despite being worth $14.6bn and $14.5bn, respectively.
Apple's Steve Jobs continued his march up the rankings. He is now the world's 110th richest person after his net worth rose from $5.5bn to $8.3bn year on year.
SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner saw his fortune rise from $5bn to $6.9bn.
Meanwhile, Facebook was responsible for putting seven people on the list, including Mark Zuckerberg at number 52 with a fortune of $13.5bn.
