Altodigital wins two printer deals

Crawley Borough Council and Higgs & Sons solicitors latest coups for reseller

Leighton Buzzard-headquartered reseller Altodigital has notched up two print supply deals in quick succession.

Altodigital, which has seven offices across England and Wales, has deployed a printer fleet with monitoring and control software for Crawley Borough Council in West Sussex. That deal follows hard on the heels of one with Brierley Hill's Higgs & Sons solicitors in the West Midlands.

Vicky Holt, a spokeswoman for Altodigital, said its account team has spent a good deal of time learning how the council was using its existing printers and worked out a more efficient workflow process for them.

"We work with many councils and understand their desire to reduce costs, improve service delivery and user experience while minimising the environmental impact," she said.

According to Altodigital, the council – which had an annual print-related spend of £70,000 – will save thousands and almost halve power consumption.

Les Sarson, ICT service delivery manager at Crawley Borough Council, said its ageing print fleet had needed constant servicing.

"We needed a severe shake-up of our printing solutions, starting with an immediate refresh of our printer fleet," Sarson said. "Ricoh MFDs are all linked through the network and monitored remotely by council IT staff."

For Higgs & Sons, Altodigital has also contracted to supply printers and associated software support to its new office.

John Smith, practice manager at Higgs & Sons, said the solicitors wanted to reduce its environmental impact.

"We produce volumes of printed material due to the nature of our business. Many of our legal cases demand a huge amount of paper and audit trails," Smith said.

Altodigital, which has previously supplied Higgs & Sons, audited the fleet and decided to deploy new Ricoh MFDs alongside an Equitrac print management offering, with HDD encryption. Remote print management software is intended to make it easier to manage paper use and keep track of overall print output.
