SimsMM snaps up continental rivals
Recycling giant buys in Holland and Germany as it adds to its growing empire
Recycling specialist Sims Metal Management (SimsMM) has grown its European presence through two acquisitions.
The firm, which also incorporates Sims Lifecycle Services, has snapped up Dutch-based computer and IT asset recovery firm Device, and Germany-based ergoTrade.
Device has operations in the Netherlands, Poland and the Czech Republic, and ergoTrade has operations in Germany and Hungary.
Graham Davy, chief executive of SimsMM’s global Sims Recycling Solutions division, said: “With these acquisitions, SimsMM will become the market leader in Germany for ICT asset recovery. Our setup of sites across Continental Europe will enable us to strengthen our service offerings to clients with multinational responsibilities.
“The two businesses bring expertise within their local and neighbouring markets and a number of synergies, which lead the field in providing solutions to the European WEEE Directive’s challenge of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’,” he added.
