CompTIA academy to shut skills gap

Trade body overhauls the way it trains the trainers and offers big discounts

Trade body CompTIA has revamped its IT training programme and cut prices to try and help combat the IT skills gap.

The organisation will unveil its CompTIA Authorised Academy Membership Programme (CAPP Academy ). It has been developed to replace CompTIA's existing Education to Careers (E2C) scheme. The new initiative is open to schools, colleges, government agencies and training operators.

CompTIA claims the CAPP Academy's key selling point is that the cost of joining translates directly into certification credits. Members will benefit from cut-price exam vouchers and one free ticket to the trade body's Annual Member Conference.

An array of free resources have also been added to try and build on E2C's success, including improved instructor training sessions, webinars and how-to guides covering lesson plans and other hot topics. Members can now also make use of a portal, which will feature white papers and an online instructor community.

A webinar outlining how the CAPP Academy can benefit members takes place on 30 March. It can be accessed here.

CAPP Academy manager Michelle Henderson said: "For those already planning to buy CompTIA certifications, membership is now effectively free. For those who aren't, this is a chance to sample CompTIA certifications at reduced cost, while also benefitting from one of the most supportive and informed IT education communities in the world."
