Micro-P nabs Nimans man Adams to lead comms charge

Phil Adams ends six-year association with Salford firm to head up distributor's burgeoning PBX and network arm

Distributor Micro Peripherals has hired long-time Nimans executive Phil Adams to lead its recently restructured comms division.

Adams (picture) spent more than six years at Nimans, spending most of that time as systems sales director. He has joined Accrington-based Micro-P as head of communications. Franchises under his management will include Cisco, NEC, Samsung and Panasonic.

The distributor's sales and commercial director Paul Bryan told ChannelWeb that Adams' 37-year history in the market makes him the ideal figurehead for Micro-P's burgeoning comms operations.

"Phil has come in to add some gravity to our approach to the market," explained Bryan. "His initial focus will be on systems sales, making sure that we are delivering best-in-class service and sharpening up our converged message. We needed a name that everyone knows and trusts."

In November, Micro-P revealed it was restructuring its comms business to forge closer ties between its PBX and peripherals operations and its networking and infrastructure unit.

The distributor also aimed to migrate the comms wing from a commercial focus to a sales-led approach. Bryan claimed this was still on the agenda, adding that one of Adams' remits would be to cement additional vendor partnerships.

"He has come with a great deal of vendor relationships, which is just what we need to pull people in and get people to listen to our message," said Bryan.
