Virsto makes UK virtualisation play
Storage virtualisation software vendor launches hunt for UK VARs
Storage virtualisation software vendor Virsto has rolled out a worldwide partner programme and is appealing for resellers to populate it.
The US-based company, founded in 2007, makes software aimed at cutting desktop and server virtualisation storage costs by reducing I/O bottlenecks.
Its flagship product, Virsto VSI, is designed to boost the performance and capacity of the storage infrastructure underpinning virtual servers.
The company recently launched a similar offering, Virsto VDI, aimed at remedying similar problems for virtual desktop users.
To drive sales of both products, the company has launched the Virsto Partner Programme, which offers resellers sales and technical training, pre- and post-sales support and lead generation.
Gregg Holzrichter, vice president of marketing at Virsto, said the company has one partner signed up to the programme in the UK, but is keen to recruit more.
"A lot of desktop virtualisation projects never make it beyond the pilot stage because the storage costs are either equal to or higher than the cost of deploying a physical desktop," explained Holzrichter.
"We believe our products will result in a high percentage of these projects getting the go-ahead for our partners."
In particular, the company is looking for VARs with a background in server or desktop virtualisation and storage.
Holzrichter added: "Distribution is an important route to market in Europe and that is another area we plan to explore as part of our overall expansion plans."
