EMC rearranges EMEA management line-up
UK boss Adrian McDonald promoted as storage giant creates two regional management roles
Storage giant EMC has broadened out its management team within EMEA, resulting in two long-standing executives winning promotions.
The firm's UK and Ireland managing director, Adrian McDonald, has been handed the role of president for EMEA north and will now oversee EMC's operations in the UK, Ireland, northern and eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, Christian Hiller, managing director of EMC France, has been promoted to the position of president for EMEA south, with France, Germany, Italy, Iberia, the Middle East and Africa falling under his remit.
The pair will jointly fill the shoes of Rainer Erlat, who steps up to the role of chairman of EMC International after managing the vendor's EMEA operations for eight years.
McDonald and Hiller will report directly to Bill Scannell, EMC's executive vice president of the Americas and EMEA.
The vendor said the management shake-up was designed to accelerate its growth across EMEA by allowing it to forge closer ties with its customers in the region.
Scannell said the firm expects much of its future growth to be fuelled by its international activities.
"Our strong financial position in 2010, coupled with our industry-leading cloud offerings and strong product road map for customers, position EMC well for a great future," Scannell said.
"With Adrian and Christian leading the effort, I am confident that we have the right leadership team in place to help customers of all sizes transform their IT operations and drive business agility through cloud computing."
