EET zooms in on UK CCTV space
Ernitec acquisition hands distributor a local presence in video surveillance market
Pan-European distributor EET Nordic will use its acquisition of Ernitec as a launchpad into the UK video surveillance market.
CCTV manufacturer and distributor Ernitec is based in EET's native Denmark but has a small UK office in Hampshire, which EET will retain. The firm will be integrated into EET's SafeVision video surveillance arm.
EET has been looking to launch SafeVision in the UK since last year and UK managing director Simon Smith said Ernitec would act as the perfect platform.
"This has come along and given us a great start," he said. "It has turnover and the right person to lead it and we will make further acquisitions."
Smith said Ernitec, which is led in the UK by Lee St John, has a local turnover of about £1m.
John Thomas, EET Group chief executive, said in a statement: "Ernitec historically has been a leader in the CCTV industry, with a number of highly competent staff and great sales across Europe. Thus Ernitec fits perfectly into EET Group's commitment to becoming one of Europe's leading CCTV distributors."
